I walked into the local Episcopal church, having prayed for a sign. I felt lost. I felt isolated in this world. Following the worship, persons were exiting. I remained sitting, contemplating quietly. I looked up and saw the enormous stained glass window on the wall behind the altar. Jesus, as the Good Shepherd, in a pastoral setting and arms open wide. Whether providentially sent as a sign or not, it became one: "Open your arms wide."
I leave the sanctuary knowing "arms" is the heart and I myself, in opening my heart to what is in Life, am opening my heart to Life. Life is my true Heart, hence my heart finds its Home there. I leave knowing only Life can open a heart to Life, that the way to Love is not a feeling or state of mind, so, I cannot wait to feel boundless grace; I am to begin with one act, a choice, to open to Grace by Grace.
As Krisha says, to the warrior Arjuna, in the Bhagavad Gita -
I am the taste of pure water and the radiance of the sun and moon. I am the sacred word [OM] and the sound heard in air, and the courage of human beings. I am the sweet fragrance in the earth and the radiance of fire; I am the life in every creature and the striving of the spiritual aspirant.
I live, now, knowing any created being, seen or unseen, is a light aflame with God.
